Old Spice and Secret aerosol antiperspirants and hygiene products recalled over benzene concerns

10 varieties of Secret and 8 varieties of Old Spice aerosol deodorants have been recalled by Procter & Gamble due to the presence of benzene. Benzene is a known human carcinogen. It’s been linked to leukemia and blood cancers. Benzene exposure can occur through inhalation, consumption, or topical treatments through the skin.

According to the U. S. Food and Drug Administration, each of the recalled antiperspirants and hygiene products came packaged in aerosol cans. They had a shelf life of about 2 years, with an expiration date of 2023. The recalled products were sold online and in retailers across the United States.

If you purchased any of the 18 recalled antiperspirants or hygiene products, Procter & Gamble will accept returns and exchanges. If you’re not going to return your product, you should stop its use and discard it immediately.
